Author = old and fat?

Former supermodel Paulina Porizkova (whom I’ve never actually heard of, but apparently appeared on Dancing with the Stars in the USA) has decided to become an author. Her debut novel is about a 15 year old aspiring model who decides to try her luck in Paris.

Porizkova said of her new career, “I’m way too old and fat to model now. But for a writer, I’m pretty damn young and hot!”

On behalf of writers everywhere, ouch!

    and what an original idea she has there *ahem!*

    Do we believe she is actually going to write it, or will it simply be her name on the cover? Remember Naomi Campbell wrote a novel some years ago? I have absolutely no doubt that after a hard day on the catwalk she used to go home and bash out a couple of thousand words on her PC, all of it entirely her own work!

    Can I not like her now? LOL!

    Can we really blame her for writing a book about an aspiring model? Isn’t “write what you know” the first or second word of advice given to going-to-be-authors?

    1)Show don’t tell.
    2)Write what you know.

    Of course, about three seconds after hearing that, the going-to-be-author realizes that no one follows that advice. Well, not like it sounds at least.
