Where are the rainbows?

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Intermittent showers alternating with sunny moments. Dark clouds obscured any of those elusive patches of colour which may have been hovering above.

At lunchtime I looked out at the London Eye. It draws the eye to it, that collection of spheres and straights. I watched the wheel turning slowly counterclockwise while those dark brooding ethereal demons beyond sauntered along in the opposing direction. The scene reminded me of how mankind moves in one direction, while nature continues on its path. I wished that I had my camera with me; I could have used a really slow shutter speed to capture the opposing movements in a blur.

I remember seeing the Eye several times when it was under construction, but I left just before it opened. Never been on it, but I want to.

“. . . dark brooding ethereal demons beyond sauntered along in the opposing direction.”

Great choice of words there. I’ve got a great image in my mind.

Hi Nicholas: it’s very romantic at night, with all the lights of London before you. In the daytime you’ll get an impressive view of the city.

Hey Evil: how apt that you like the demon imagery.
