Some great shows get cancelled due to low ratings, while some mediocre ones continue on for years. Here are some excellent shows which were made to end prematurely. Thank goodness for DVD box sets.

1. Angel

Sure there were 5 seasons of Angel, but the second half of the fifth season was rushed after the cancellation announcement in order to give some kind of closure to the series. One of my favourite shows ever.

2. Dead Like Me

Being dead doesn’t mean that your troubles are over…

3. Huff

A psychiatrist whose life starts to fall apart. My favourite character was his best friend, the crazy lawyer.

4. Tru Calling

Tru can relive the previous day in order to save people who should not have been killed.

5. Firefly

At least we had Serenity to give some closure to the storyline.

–

6. Carnivàle

I’m just getting into this series after my brother recommended watching the DVDs. It’s a compelling and eerie series set in the 1930s.

7. Point Pleasant

The devil’s daughter would look like an angel.

–

8. Andy Richter Controls the Universe

I wish he did. Hilarious.

9. Miss Match

A lawyer-cum-matchmaker whose own love-life isn’t ideal.

–

10. The Comeback

As uncomfortable to watch as Curb Your Enthusiasm. How clueless can a person be?

11. American Gothic

Not everything is what it seems in the town of Trinity. Very creepy.

–

12. The Job

A fast-talking cop show.

–

13. The Dresden Files

Look him up in the Yellow Pages, under W for Wizard.
