My Xmas is

Xmas Patrol

  • Getting stuck in the supermarket on Xmas Eve after forgetting something essential - like cheese, or a last-minute present. (Though not this year.)
  • Colluding with my brother to buy our mum a present.
  • Buying myself more than anyone else. Hey, I deserve it.
  • Going mental in the crowds when present-shopping. Note to self: go to Victoria again next year, it’s not as busy as Croydon or Oxford Street but has all the usual shops.
  • Mum’s cake. The best in the world. She makes me my own mini cake, without the raisins.
  • Housework.
  • Random Santa sightings. (Saw two skinny Santas on their way to a footie match on Saturday.)
  • Carol singers in Croydon.
  • Charity workers with Santa hats.
  • Turkey (but I prefer it on Boxing Day, when my mum fries the leftover meat.) We’ll also have brussel sprouts, stuffing, salad, potatoes, and rice & peas.
  • Quality Street chocs. My faves are the coconut one and the one in the purple wrapper with the peanut and caramel filling.
  • Family movies. My Fair Lady always shows at Xmas. This morning I caught a few minutes of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
  • Extended family. We’re expecting a few relatives around for dinner and the usual. My uncle and brother will play Playstation/X-Box games. I’m sure that someone will tell me how fat I am.
  • A visit to my Grandma. I visited her briefly yesterday to give her a present (a massage mat). I’m not sure that she’ll use it, but I tried.
  • Presents. I don’t usually get many, and nowadays people tend to give me money instead. I like to give a great present though. I guess that’s why I’m always spending money on myself - people never buy me anything I’d really like.
  • Xmas text messages from old friends.

I love Willy Wonka and for some reason that movie always reminds me of the holidays. Maybe it’s just cause they always seem to show it around the holidays here and I can remember staying up late into the night watching it while my grandmother made cookies.

    Sigh memories…

Cool Christmas card!!! Ahhh Dita! Merry Christmas Goddess I hope you get everything you want and a whole lot more! :)

Dr M: Thanks, buddy. Seeing your comments on here always makes me smile.

Westcoast Walker: I’ll take that as a compliment, though I’m wondering how many other urban recluses you know.
