On the train home this evening I sat down next to a woman (fairly attractive, probably in her 30s) who was carrying a large carry case like the one on the left, but it was red.

For the next few train stops I wondered what was in the box. At the end of every other sentence in the book I was reading my gaze would discreetly flick over to the box and make another guess at its contents. I could see a white label on the far side of the box, which might have revealed all, but I couldn’t read it from my position, and besides, I liked the guessing game.

A couple of stops before mine, she got up to go. I moved to let her pass, and saw something stamped on the case that ended my speculation.

So now it’s your turn to play. What was in the case? Was she a handywoman? Mobile hairdresser? Spy gadget saleswoman? Professional assassin? Or something more quotidian?

Paypal has taken to sending me emails about money laundering since I’ve had more than £650 going through my account since I don’t know when. So I’ve sold some of my old stuff on ebay and get the odd affiliate payment from another website, so what? It’s not like I’m smuggling suitcases full of dirty cash into the continent via Easyjet.

So now under the guise of these European Union Anti-Money Laundering regulations I need to provide Paypal with access to my bank account. Mmmm, it may be time to restrict my online transactions. I don’t like all this bureaucracy, and I don’t like the thought of Paypal having access to my bank account information. It smells like Big Brother to me.

I’m very tempted.

The IMAX is having a Matrix All-Nighter in a couple of weeks, and I’d like to go. I saw Matrix Reloaded there years ago, and watching the amazing chase scenes on that massive screen was awesome. I’m not sure that I could handle all three Matrix movies on one night, but that’s the fun of it I suppose. Now I just need to find someone crazy enough to come with me… any takers?

If you could choose any superpower, no matter how devastating or nefarious, what would you choose?

Would you want to emulate a character from your favourite comic or film? How about a video game hero? Perhaps one of the Heroes? Or have you thought of your own unique, never-previously-conceived superpower?

Moi? Well I’d love the ability to produce “fireballs” from my hands from chi or actual fire. I don’t really know why I’d like that particular power, apart from the fact that it would be an awesome weapon. I used to love producing the hadouken effect in Streetfighter II with Ryu or Ken.

The next best thing to producing my own fireballs would be to be able to don a suit like Iron Man and blow up the bad guys. I really should review that film, I’ve seen it twice already.

I’m looking forward to the Hancock movie. Haven’t heard good things about the Indiana Jones movie so far, but I still intend to see it. Speed Racer is on at the IMAX, but I’m not sure that I’m bothered enough to check it out. Each sunrise brings me closer to The Dark Knight, and yet there’s still 6 months left until the new Bond.

I wouldn’t have thought that being a lawyer was an ideal introvert’s job, but I guess that some lawyers don’t court the limelight (pardon the pun).

Unfortunately I’m not qualified or very interested in any of the above jobs, so we’ll have to keep on looking.

From time to time I look in the newspaper job sections or on some recruitment websites, but there’s nothing that grabs me. As I don’t want to continue with admin work or management in general, I’m feeling a bit stuck.

I thought about working in a casino as I’m a night person, but I’ve never worked in the hospitality industry and don’t know if I’d be much good at it.

I was also thinking about teaching English in Japan, but without a degree it doesn’t look likely.

So what would I like to do? Ideally I’d still like to be a writer. Story of my life, I know. So how does a girl who hasn’t written a full work of fiction in ages become a full-time writer? The spiritual answer would be: one word at a time.

I should be at work right now, but I can’t face going in, Between my boss dropping a nightmare new project in my lap at the very last minute and my colleague’s constant criticisms I really dread going in. Not only is the actual work a hell of a lot, the emotional side of dealing with the people there is really getting to me.

I feel so isolated there - I’m the only member of the core team who isn’t invited to the team meetings, and my manager never tells me anything unless she absolutely needs to, so I usually have to figure things out from overheard conversations or whatever crumbs my colleagues wish to tell me.

Those flies last Friday were trying to tell me something - it’s time to go.

This is completely daft, but I love it.
